The crop was that of the sugar cane, which was wildly farmed all over Hawaii, and the white settlers controled almost, if not all, of it.
5) Using as much detail as possible, outline the sequence of events that led to America gaining possession of Hawaii? In other words, why was the United States interested in these Pacific islands?
America had always used Hawaii for midway stop for American boats from Asia to India and from America. We traded and improted many things, ex. workers, from other countries onto theis islands and they then worked there or came to America. Hawaii was especially improtant because we created the naval base Pearl Harbor there, which became a very usful refuling stop for all American ships.
